Sculpture Workshop with Claire Holloway
Whether in clay, bronze or oil paint, Claire’s focus is to capture the essence of her subject and simplify her compositions to elevate and honor the animals she depicts. Born in 1998, Claire grew up in Oklahoma City, on the edge of the prairie. With the plains surroundings her, Claire took every opportunity to experience this area, from visiting the local arenas and stockyards, to traveling across the state to nature reserves and zoos. Livestock, dogs and North American mammals are her main subjects, but African animals call to Claire with a similar strength.
After studying academic painting and drawing at the Oklahoma Academy of Classical Art, Claire attended the University of Oklahoma and studied with acclaimed sculptor Paul Moore. Her studio practice now includes both painting and sculpture. Along with her studio practice, Claire teaches drawing and painting at the Oklahoma Academy of Classical Art. Claire currently works in Oklahoma City along with her studio dog, Maura.
