OAG History"The Oklahoma Art Guild was formed on the early 1950's by Dick Goetz and other first rate artists in Oklahoma City at that time. Not having written records, it is assumed from the events that followed, the principle idea of this new organization was to have a show at least once a year for members to hang their work for sale and general exposure to the public. With that beginning, the idea of judged shows evolved; and we came to the present plan of two or more shows a year with the Members Show having no restrictions of entry. Awards were made to the best in each category plus a "Best of Show" award. This principle of "allowing all entries" and awards for the different categories is really the life blood of our organization. The democratic idea of "all can enter and be shown'' has worked well in improving the quality of the work our members have done over the years. This is our chance for fun and eyeing each other's work. It is a stimulating adventure for all entrants and guests."
