Member's Gallery: Nancy Park
Nancy Park, past president of Oklahoma Art Guild, and earned Signature Membership status with the first group to do so. Her first love is in painting people. The mysteries and expressions of faces in repose and action have always fascinated her as she exercises this understanding warmly in her portraits. Her first portrait commission was in the late '50s, and she's been growing and developing her skills ever since. She has done portraits in oil, watercolor and pastel - and does pencil renderings for quality reproduction. Working as a commercial artist and illlustrator, she has adapted a lot of the techniques learned in the workplace to her fine art painting. Although she enjoys doing landscapes and still lifes, nothing intrigues her more than the human face for complexity and depth. One of her oil paintings of a little girl won her a Best-of-Show award in Tulsa. She has paintings in the collections of Lois Mercer, Bob Landsaw, Anthony Thornton and Clydette Womack, to name a few among the many who have either commissioned her for portraits or have bought her landscapes and still lifes.
